High school football will be back in 10 days. It just won’t include public schools yet.
The Interscholastic League of Honolulu released its schedule Monday afternoon, including six playing dates at Aloha Stadium.
Spectators will not be permitted.
The slate begins on Aug. 27 with Damien facing ‘Iolani in a 3:15 p.m. matchup at Eddie Hamada Field. Also on that day, Pac-Five will meet Saint Louis II at 5 p.m., and Kamehameha will face Punahou at 7:30 p.m. in a doubleheader at Aloha Stadium.
Kamehameha will also field a ‘B’ team.
Saint Louis’ “A” team plays at Bishop Gorman (Nev.) this Friday, then does not play another game until Sept. 3 against Punahou at Aloha Stadium.
The ILH regular-season schedule concludes on Oct. 8. The weekend of Oct. 15-16 is slotted as a semifinal round, with a league championship game on Oct. 23.
The state’s other four leagues are all on hold until Sept. 27. The COVID-19 vaccination deadline is Sept. 24 for public high school student-athletes. The alternative for those who choose a religious or medical exemption is to be tested twice per week.
Updated regular-season schedules for the OIA, KIF, MIL and BIIF have not been released yet, though the HHSAA has set dates for fall sports state tournaments. The football state tournament is scheduled to conclude in early January.
