Statistics of players with Hawaii ties in professional baseball through Friday’s games. Players who are on the injured or suspended list and whose stats have not changed since last week are not listed.:
>> Josh Rojas came off the injured list and made an impact, collecting the second four-hit game of his career on Thursday against the Padres. He walked in his other appearence, putting him on base five times in the game and reached base three more times the next day.
>> Isiah Kiner-Falefa is challenging fans to beat him in fantasy football this season, hosting a league on bigleagueimpact.org with Kyle Gibson and Jose Trevino. Prizes will be given out and proceeds go to charity.
>> Quintin Torres-Costa threw a season-high 2 1⁄3 innings on Wednesday, striking out four batters.
>> Steven Wright earned a spot start when the Pirates intended to promote Dillon Peters, but he didn’t do much with it. Wright went four innings and gave up six runs but half of them were earned thanks to an error by Ka’ai Tom, who was on a rehab assignment.
>> Jordan Yamamoto has been throwing in the bullpen after being sidelined with a shoulder injury since May. The New York Post reported that Yamamoto is “a week or two” away from facing hitters.
>> Micah Yonamine hit a sacrifice fly and walked in a rehab assignment in the rookie league. He should return to Clearwater soon.
>> After sparkling as a reliever, the Yankees promoted Edgar Barclay and made him a starter at Hudson Valley. He struggled in his first two appearances, giving up two runs in four innings in his debut and three runs in 3 2⁄3 in his next try.
>> Trayson Kubo has been on the injured list since Aug. 1.
>> Ryley Widell joined Kane County’s bullpen at the end of July and is struggling to find the plate with seven walks in six games and allowing opponents to reach base 45% of the time. Widell joins fellow 2013 graduate Mark Karaviotis, who went to Maui, on the roster. Widell actually signed with the Chicago Dogs but was realeased after Karaviotis hit a double off the wall against him. It was the first time the Maui products had faced each other since high school, according to Rob Collias of the Maui News.
>> Dylan Spain struck out the first batter he faced as a professional, getting Tanner Murray swinging but allowing him to reach on a wild pitch. Spain’s first out recorded was former UH catcher David Freitas, who flew out to centerfield.
