Northbound lanes on Kualakai Parkway in Kapolei to close Monday for ‘Magnum P.I.’ filming
All northbound lanes on a stretch of Kualakai Parkway will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. this Monday for the filming of a “Magnum P.I.” scene, according to the Hawaii Department of Transportation,
The lanes affected are between Kapolei Parkway and Farrington Highway. HDOT said, however, that a contraflow set up in the southbound lanes will allow traffic to travel in both directions.
During filming of the CBS television series, however, there will be short stops of traffic on all lanes — limited to between three to five stops per hour for no more than seven minutes.
HDOT said Hoomohala Avenue will also be closed from Kualakai Parkway traveling west to the dead end of the roadway.
Electronic message boards will be posted to notify motorists of the closure. On-site special duty police officers will assist with traffic control. As soon as filming work is finished, closures will be lifted.
HDOT advises the public to plan ahead and check traffic apps like GoAkamai.org, before getting on the road.
