Warning signs posted for box jellyfish at Maili Beach Park

Honolulu lifeguards have reported an influx of box jellyfish at Maili Beach Park in Leeward Oahu.

Warning signs have been posted at the beach today. The public is advised to exercise caution when entering the water as the invertebrates can cause painful stings and allergic reactions.

Box jellyfish usually arrive near shore 8 to 10 days after a full moon.
