Hawaii island firefighters fought a five-acre brush fire at Ninole Loop near Punaluu Beach this morning, and were able to contain most of it.
Hawaii Fire Department personnel responded to the fire at around 7 a.m. to contain the fire. Just before 11 a.m., the County of Hawaii said the fire was 80% contained but that firefighting efforts were continuing to prevent any potential flare-ups.
No structures were threatened in the fire.
