Emergency siren at Pier 39 in Honolulu undergoes testing
State and county officials will conduct a siren testing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Pier 39 in Honolulu, according to the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency.
Residents and visitors nearby may hear the siren sound for 30-second to three-minute intervals during the day. Testing will also include short blasts known as “burps.”
During the tests, Hawaii and Honolulu Emergency Management officials and technicians will be checking the functionality of the siren as part of an ongoing modernization program, officials said.
