>> The Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce has appointed Rika Hirata as chairwoman of the board for fiscal year 2021-2022. Hirata is vice president and team leader at First Hawaiian Bank. Hirata, an HJCC member for 14 years, has taken an active leadership role in the organization, including being a board member for six years and chairwoman of the Japanese Business Relations Committee.
>> Two Hawaii residents have been chosen as part of JCI USA’s 2021 Ten Outstanding Young Americans, which recognizes individuals who are outstanding in the areas of business or entrepreneurial accomplishments, political achievement, humanitarian, voluntary leadership and more. They are U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Jessica Roper, 37, who is a National Certified Counselor and linguist from Kailua, and Trung Lam, 40, who is an entrepreneur residing in Honolulu. They will be honored on Sept. 18 along with the other eight recipients at the 83rd annual black-tie awards ceremony at the Marriott St. Louis Grand in St. Louis.
