Las Vegas Advisor: Cirque du Soleil shows to return in Las Vegas

After originally planning to reopen at a pace of one show per month starting in July, Cirque du Soleil has accelerated its schedule.

Both “Mystere” at Treasure Island and “O” at Bellagio are already performing. “Michael Jackson: One” will resume Aug. 19 at Mandalay Bay and “Love” is scheduled to return to the Mirage about then as well, though a date hasn’t been announced.

“KA” at MGM Grand is expected to be the last to reopen sometime in October. The only Cirque show that won’t return is “Zumanity,” which played at New York-New York. Three other Cirque-like shows that have already reopened are Blue Man Group at Luxor, “Criss Angel: Mindfreak” at Planet Hollywood, and “Absinthe” at Caesars Palace.

Temp record tied:The thermometer hit 117 degrees last week to tie the all-time record high temperature in Las Vegas. It was the fifth time since 1937 when temperature records began being kept that the city saw 117. The others were on June 20, 2017; June 30, 2013; July 19, 2005; and July 24, 1942.

Butts booted: After being on display since 1997, the famous bronze statue of the Crazy Girls derrieres that graced the front of the Riviera and then Planet Hollywood’s Sin City Showroom has been put out to pasture. The statue was removed after the Crazy Girls show became a victim of Caesars’ closing of several smaller showrooms last month. It’s not known if the show, or the statue, will get a new home. The butts are said to have been touched by more than 1 million visitors.

Prime increase: The price of prime rib is up at Ellis Island. It’ll cost you $2 more for the regular cut, which is now $18.99, and the double cut has jumped to $38 from $32. Served 24 hours a day, these are still two of the best prime rib deals in town.

Question: Do any casinos still deal Crapless Craps?

Answer: There’s a Crapless Craps game at the newly opened Virgin Las Vegas. Virgin also offers Spanish 21, another game that’s rarely dealt today.
