Derrick Florence has been hired as an assistant coach with the University of Hawaii women’s basketball program, the school announced on Thursday.
Florence joins the Rainbow Wahine with 18 years of coaching experience, the last eight seasons as an assistant coach with Sacramento State. UH coach Laura Beeman said Florence will work with the Wahine post players.
”Derrick will bring another level of depth to our already experienced coaching staff,” Beeman said in a release. “He’s a great teacher, and too often, this quality gets lost. … He is a relationship person and will bring an intense yet even-keeled disposition to our players.”
