City crews to begin clearing overgrown vegetation, debris from Makiki Stream
The Honolulu Department of Facility Maintenance will begin maintenance work on Makiki Stream between Philip and Fern streets Tuesday.
Workers will be using heavy equipment to clear overgrown vegetation, rocks, silt and other debris from an 800-foot section of the stream.
While the maintenance efforts occur, there will be increased noise levels due to the heavy equipment and large trucks needed to haul away debris, city officials said.
The work will occur Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and is scheduled to be completed by July 16.
