The Royal Air Force staged a daylight raid on the Matford factory in Piossy, near Paris, and set the big plant on fire on March 26, 1942. The factory had been producing 20 trucks a day for the German Army and lines of these vehicles may be seen at the left.

The first woman to run for U.S. vice president on a major party ticket has died. Geraldine Ferraro was 75. A family friend said Ferraro, who was diagnosed with blood cancer in 1998, died Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Massachusetts General Hospital.
