Thankfully, Hawaii House Bill 1118 was defeated. This bill would have eliminated nonmedical (religious) exemptions for school immunization requirements.
This was yet another example of government overreach by Hawaii’s progressive lawmakers. Despite the fact that the state is no longer under pandemic emergency orders, they still believe they can overrule parents’ rights and religious beliefs.
Perhaps they should take the time to review the First Amendment’s guarantee of religious freedom.
