Police have opened first-degree arson cases in two of three Kapolei fires early this morning.

The first fire broke out at 3:23 a.m. at 91-252 Kuhela St., ABC Supply Co. Inc., a roofing supply store in an industrial area.

The Honolulu Fire Department responded with 11 units and about 40 personnel.

Firefighters found stacks of wood and roofing insulation engulfed in flames that were stored in the parking lot.

Firefighters brought the fire under control at 4:33 a.m. and extinguished it at 7:09 a.m.

A second fire was reported at 4:08 a.m. at the intersection of Lauwiliwili and Komohana streets, near 603 Komohana St., close to the Goodwill Store and Donation Center.

HFD responded with 10 units and 35 personnel.

HFD said that the first unit arrived at 4:16 a.m. and found large stacks of wood and other combustibles.

Firefighters brought the fire under control at 4:20 a.m. and extinguished it at 7:12 a.m.

Crews worked with the company forklift operator to break down the large stacks of combustible material to overhaul and put out any hot spots.

The second fire is a three-minute drive from the Kuhela Street location.

HFD responded to a third fire, classified as a wildland fire, at 4859 Kapolei Parkway at about 4:41 a.m. Firefighters brought that blaze under control in about 10 minutes.

HPD spokeswoman Michelle Yu said she had no information concerning the third fire.

Arson in the first-degree is a Class A felony, punishable by up to 20 years in prison and fines.
