Pedestrian, 37, dies after being struck by pick-up on Kahekili Highway

A 37-year-old woman was killed in a pedestrian collision on Kahekili Highway in Kahaluu before dawn today.

A Honolulu Police Department Traffic Division report said that at about 5:10 a.m., a pick-up truck driven by a 67-year-old man and traveling east on the highway struck the pedestrian “who appears to have been in the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk.”

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded and paramedics assisted in the pronouncement of death of the woman at the scene of the collision.

The motorist was not injured and he remained at the scene.

Speed, drugs, and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision, police said.

This was Oahu’s second traffic fatality in 2024, compared with two at the same time in 2023.

Honolulu police closed the highway between Ahaolelo and Ahuimanu roads before 6 a.m.
