Tropical Storm Linda weakens dramatically, expected to bring warm, muggy weather to Hawaii
UPDATE: 5 p.m.
Tropical Storm Linda continued to weaken this afternoon as it entered the Central Pacific.
Linda, with winds at 45 mph, is 910 miles east of Hilo. Linda is moving toward the west near 17 mph and this motion is expected to continue for the next few days.
Additional weakening is forecast, and Linda is expected to become post-tropical tonight.

Decreasing dramatically in strength, Linda is now a weak tropical storm as it’s poised to cross into the Central Pacific.

Located about 1,015 miles east of Hilo, Linda packed maximum sustained winds of 50 mph and was moving west at 17 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
Although Linda is expected to continue on its current track through the weekend, the storm is weakening faster than previously forecast and is expected to weaken to a post-tropical cyclone by tonight, the NHC said.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles from Linda’s center.

Linda continued its trend of weakening overnight and is now a tropical storm in the East Pacific.
Located 1,135 miles east of Hilo at 5 a.m. today, Linda packed maximum sustained winds of 70 mph and was moving west at 16 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
Linda is expected to continue weakening and is forecast to become a post-tropical cyclone by Saturday night while continuing to track westward through the weekend, weather officials said.

Although tradewinds are forecast to strengthen today through Saturday, winds will diminish Sunday to Monday as the remnants of Linda pass just north of the islands. Expect warm and muggy conditions as the trades recede.
