Hawaii officials announce latest vaccination incentive winners
The state’s COVID-19 vaccination incentive campaign on Monday announced the winners of two second-round prizes up for grabs – a one-year supply of crispy beef jerky treats and a canvas-print, triptych mural by a local artist.
Robert Fung of Kailua won a one-year supply of Hana Hou Beef Jerky from Pohina Products on Hawaii island, which he said “is a great prize for me — cannot wait to try it.”
Shaunson Wong of Kaneohe won the triptych mural titled, “See the Light / Save the Environment” — by recent Punahou graduate and environment artist Stephanie Hung, whose artwork supports local nonprofit, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii.
The vaccination incentives campaign was launched in early June in an attempt to motivate more people to get vaccinated against COVID-19, with an array of prizes that in the first round included a trip to Las Vegas, 100,000 HawaiianMiles and a year of Zippy’s.
In the second round, the incentives included three $5,000 cash prizes from American Savings Bank. Organizers said the winner of one of those prizes will be announced next week upon verification of vaccination by the Hawaii Department of Health.
A new “Vax Da Max Milestone” contest has also been launched, aimed at those who receive a COVID shot on or after Aug. 9. The first verified winner of the Vax Da Max Milestone contest receiving a $500 value prize package from McDonald’s Restaurants of Hawaii will be announced soon.
