Oahu residents from Kuliouou to Koko Head in Hawaii Kai were affected, Sunday, by a broken 24-inch water main at 5952 Kalanianaole Highway in Kuliouou.

Two East Oahu schools are closing today due to water main repairs for a break along Kalanianaole Highway.

Although water service was restored to Kaiser High School and Kamiloiki Elementary School after a water main break Sunday, both will be closing this morning after a loss of water availability and water pressure today.

“The schools cannot provide running water for restroom use and hand-washing,” the Department of Education said in a press release. “Kaiser High’s centralized kitchen was able to prepare lunches for its surrounding elementary feeder schools before having to close. Parents are being notified.”

Separately, Heeia Elementary in Kaneohe also had to close this morning. The school notified parents that a water main break near campus impacted its water supply.
