Wildfire at Kahuku Golf Course prompts evacuation of nearby residents
Honolulu firefighters extinguished a wildfire that broke out at the Kahuku Golf Course Tuesday night.
Twelve units with more than 40 firefighters responded to blaze at the golf course at about 10:05 p.m. The Honolulu Fire Department said the fire threatened nearby homes, prompting an evacuation as a precautionary measure.
Fire crews extinguished the fire that scorched approximately 10 acres of land. Residents have since returned to their homes.
There were no reports of any injuries or damage to residences.
Fire crews returned to the golf course just before 7:30 a.m. today after the wildfire rekindled.
Crews contained the fire shortly after their arrival, the fire department said.
