One could almost feel the positive vibes emanating from the new Youth Empowerment Center, the first gathering spot of its kind to lift up Micronesian kids and young adults here. Among its goals, the center on North King Street will provide Micronesian youths with college and career help, mentorship opportunities, offer study areas and resources for homeless families.
After a particularly tense year between that community and police, due to a high-profile shooting fatality, it was good seeing both sides come together and hopeful at the center’s opening last week. Better days ahead, let’s hope.
