Kaimuki Public Library closed after positive COVID-19 case
The Kaimuki Public Library is closed today after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
The library is undergoing a thorough cleaning and is scheduled to reopen tomorrow, according to a Hawaii State Public Library System news release.
The Kaimuki library employee who tested positive for coronavirus does not have direct contact with the public and has not worked at the library since Friday.
All library staff are required to wear masks, practice social distancing and hand-sanitizing guidelines. High-touch areas are disinfected as recommended by federal and state guidance.
Mallory Fujitani, special assistant to state librarian Stacey Aldrich, apologized to library patrons for the temporary closure.
“This is another reminder for all of us to remain vigilant by wearing masks, social distancing and following recommended safety protocols such as getting vaccinated, to protect our families, our co-workers and our community,” Fujitani said in the news release.

This is the second time a public library on Oahu has temporarily closed in five days due to COVID-19.
