Surely government officials took notice last week when Roy Amemiya, former city managing director, received a federal target letter, reportedly linked to the matter of ex-Police Chief Louis Kealoha and his former wife, ousted deputy prosecutor Katherine Kealoha.
What discussions took place, out of public view, on the Kealoha corruption case? It signaled that while the feds have been silent on that question, what was hidden may yet come to light — as updates on earlier target letters to former Corporation Counsel Donna Leong and former city Prosecutor Keith Kaneshiro are also still pending.
HOLO ready to take over TheBus
For those not familiar, “holoholo” means to go out and about, especially for a ride around town. That’s what the city’s aptly named HOLO card will enable its riders to do, electronically.
Starting July 1, TheBus will no longer use paper passes, so riders will need to get a HOLO electronic fare card with money or a pass loaded onto the card. (Cash will still be accepted for one-way rides only.) Riders merely tap the card upon bus-boarding, and HOLO will deduct the fare as needed, allowing free transfer to another bus within 2.5 hours and capping fares at $5.50 per day. For info, see www.holocard.net or call 768-4656.
