Hawaiian Airlines flight to Maui returns to Honolulu after engine troubles
A Hawaiian Airlines aircraft experienced engine trouble on a flight to Maui and was forced to turn around and return to Honolulu Monday morning.
Kahului-bound Flight 216 departed Daniel K. Inouye International Airport at about 9:45 a.m. and ended arriving back on Oahu at 10:26, the airline said.
The decision to turn around about 20 minutes into the flight was made “out of an abundance of caution,” a spokesman said, and passengers were accommodated on another aircraft that left for Maui just after 11:15 a.m.
