Hawaii vs. San Jose State in question due to COVID-19 restrictions in Santa Clara
The site of next week’s University of Hawaii-San Jose State game could be in doubt.
The Dec. 5 game is scheduled for San Jose’s CEFCU Stadium but a recent re-tightening of restrictions in Santa Clara County due to COVID-19 has raised questions about whether it might have to be moved.
“Have a meeting (Sunday) with the county regarding clarification and direction on (Saturday’s) updated COVID-19 guidelines and protocol,” an SJSU school spokesman told the Star-Advertiser today.
Under Santa Clara County’s directive, people returning after traveling more than 150 miles must quarantine for 14 days upon return.
In addition, hotels will be open for only essential travel or quarantine or isolation.
The Spartans returned to San Jose Saturday after their game at Boise State was canceled less than five hours prior to the scheduled kickoff due to COVID-19 cases within the Boise State football team.

Several MWC games have been switched to Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas as a neutral site. Wyoming and New Mexico are expected to play their Dec. 5 game there as well.
