STAR-ADVERTISER ARCHIVE / NOVEMBER 24, 1953
Executives of KGMB-TV — Wayne Kearl, assistant general manager, left; C. Richard Evans, vice president
and general manager, holding the sound transmitter switch; J. Howard Worrall, president, with his hand
on the picture transmitter switch; and Daniel Hunter, chief engineer — stood by in the station’s transmitting
room to throw the switches that put the station’s new high-power TV transmitters on the air for the
first time on a scheduled telecasting basis yesterday. The transmitter cost more than $100,000 to buy and
install. It radiates 107,000 watts of power.
