Sunday morning fire destroys Kauai home, displaces family of three

The fire resulted in the total loss of the home, according to the Kauai Fire Department, with damages to the structure and contents estimated at roughly $420,000.
A fire that broke out Sunday morning in Kilauea, Kauai, destroyed a home and displaced a family of three, according to the Kauai Fire Department.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Hanalei firefighters responded to a call on Aalona Street in Kilauea, and found a single-story home fully engulfed in flames. They were soon joined by firefighters from the Kaiakea, Kapaa, and Lihue fire stations, as well as the on-duty battalion chief, and the fire was fully extinguished at about 1:30 p.m.

Volunteers with the American Red Cross are assisting the displaced family. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
