Public comment and discussion concerning the New Aloha Stadium Entertainment District is being solicited at a master planning community workshop Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Aloha Stadium hospitality room.
Officials from NASED will be on hand to offer information, answer questions and receive feedback on the project that will replace the 45-year-old stadium as a centerpiece of the planned 98-acre entertainment district in Halawa.
Officials said the topics include traffic, roads, and parking; site program and amenities; stadium design and events; and environmental and sustainability. Input and feedback received from the public will assist with the master planning process, they said.
“We are looking forward to hosting a Master Planning Community Workshop to continue our collaboration with the public to focus on identifying areas of opportunity and concern about the NASED project,” said Chris Kinimaka, public works administrator for the state’s Department of Accounting and General Services.
“This workshop, along with our other community engagement efforts, allow us to interface with various stakeholders and fulfill our commitment as good neighbors and community partners,” Kinimaka said.
NASED officials have previously met with neighborhood boards and associations, swap meet vendors, prospective public-private partnership parties and other community groups.
Work on the master plan and environmental impact statement is underway and completion is expected by the end of July 2020. Construction on the new facility is projected to begin in 2021 and be completed in time for the opening of the 2023 college football season.
