Friends of Honolulu City Lights and Iolani Palace are selling their commemorative ornaments throughout Oahu just in time for Christmas celebrations.

In honor of the 35th anniversary of Honolulu City Lights, designer Owen Ho has created two ornaments for 2019: a multifaceted silver wreath; and another of Mr. and Mrs. Claus rowing a canoe filled with presents.

Each is $18, and on sale at Macy’s stores and 36 branches of First Hawaiian Bank. All proceeds go toward keeping the annual Christmas display free to the public. For online orders, visit honolulucitylights.org/shop Opens in a new tab.

Iolani Palace’s 2019 ornament recognizes the recent donation of a helmet plate, which adorns the front of a helmet, that is now in the Palace Collections. The bronze plate bears the letter “K” for King Kalakaua, and is inscribed with the Hawaiian national motto: “Ua Mau ke Ea o ka Aina i ka Pono,” or “the life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness.” The design also features garland as well as cannons and cannon balls.

Each sells for $25 at the Palace and Gallery Shops. For information, call 532-1050 or email shops@iolanipalace.org.
