Do you have a baby aged 2 to 4 months? Would you like to help local children develop empathy?
Roots of Empathy is looking for volunteer families to participate in its school-based program on Oahu, which helps children improve their social and emotional well-being.
It entails visits to a classroom by a parent and baby, allowing kids to witness an infant’s development over several months, as a trained instructor helps them understand their own feelings and respect those of others.
Roots of Empathy is active in 20 schools in Honolulu and more schools want to take part. Research shows the award-winning program has a long-term impact, promoting pro-social behavior and reducing bullying and aggression.
