Hawaii senior middle Patrick Gasman had 10 points in the United States’ 25-13, 25-16, 25-15 victory over Puerto Rico in the NORCECA Champions Cup volleyball tournament on Thursday in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Gasman played the entire match and finished with five blocks, four kills and an ace in the sweep at the Olympic Training Center. On the U.S. coaching staff is assistant Spencer McLachlin (Punahou).
The U.S. men play Cuba today in the round-robin event.
Earlier on Thursday, the U.S. women defeated Canada 18-25, 25-14, 25-23, 25-20. Former Rainbow Wahine All-American Emily Maglio started Sets 1, 2 and 3, finishing with two kills and a block for the Canadians.
The U.S. women play Puerto Rico and Canada faces the Dominican Republic today. The tournament concludes Saturday.
