Seth Waugh, CEO of the PGA of America, will be a featured speaker at the 2019 Hawaii Golf Industry Conference.
The biennial event brings together the major partners in Hawaii’s golf industry and marketing partners impacted by the industry. The mission is to “provide a unified voice to represent the game and business of golf in Hawaii.”
It will be Sept. 5, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Kahala Hotel and Resort. Pre-sale tickets are $90, with general admission $115 and group sales (eight or more) $105. The event beneficiary is Aloha Section PGA Foundation.
Other speakers will include Hawaii Visitor & Convention Bureau CEO John Monahan and PGA Magazine President Brian Folino — who will co-host a panel — and Jason Straka of Fry/Straka Golobal Golf Course Design.
The Hawaii Golf Economic Impact report will also be presented.

Uchida, Sequin win team event
Birdies on the last two holes proved to be the difference Sunday when Lacey Uchida and Jake Sequin won the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association’s Mixed Team Championship at Poipu Bay.
Uchida and Sequin opened with a 5-under 67 in Saturday’s four-ball stroke play format. They fired a final-round 74 in foursome stroke play to finish at 141, two strokes ahead of Kellie Yamane and Joshua Chung.
Juniors heading to regional
Tyler Tamayori leads a group of 16 Hawaii juniors headed to the Drive, Chip and Putt regional, set for Sept. 21 at Torrey Pines in San Diego.
Qualifiers there advance to the national finals at Augusta National, the Sunday before next year’s Masters. It will be broadcast live by Golf Channel.
Tamayori scored a tournament-high 144 points at the Kapolei sub-regional last month to win the Boys 12-13 division. He and Case Ralar (110 points) both qualified from their age group.
Other boys flight winners were Ethan Jake Abella (7-9) with 119 points, Ethan Chapital (10-11) with 126 and Gregory Jackson Jr. (14-15) with 142.
Girls champions were: Caitlyn Matsunaga (7-9), 81 points; Kady Matsumoto (10-11), 109; Mia Hirashima (12-13), 136, and; Jacelyn Yun (14-15), 128.
Other qualifiers were Brycen James Massey and Rylee Honda (7-9), Hayden Michael Ralph and Jacey Kage (10-11), Mia Cepeda (12-13) and Reagan James Miles and Jade Mauga (14-15).
