Hawaii-born Aneka Seumanutafa won twice on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the 119th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in West Point, Miss.
Seumanutafa, originally from Ewa Beach before moving to Maryland in high school, defeated China’s Angela Liu 4 and 3 in the round of 32 at Old Waverly Golf Club. The Ohio State sophomore then held off Annabell Fuller of England 3 and 2 and will face Albane Valenzuela in today’s quarterfinal round.
Punahou graduate and USC senior Allisen Corpuz won her round-of-32 match 4 and 3 over Dylan Kim of Texas, but lost to California’s Caroline Canales 3 and 2 in the third round.
