Hawaiian Airlines’ passenger traffic dipped 1.9% in July even though it filled up more of its seats.
The state’s largest carrier reported Wednesday that it transported 1,078,199 people last month compared with 1,099,009 in the year-earlier period.
Hawaiian’s load factor, or the percentage of seats filled, rose 1.9 percentage points to 89.3% from 87.4%
Revenue passenger miles, or one paying passenger transported one mile, increased 2.2% to 1,587,380 from 1,552,545 in the year-earlier period. Available seat miles, or one seat transported one mile, inched up 0.1% to 1,777,180 from 1,775,925.
ON THE MOVE
Bank of Hawaii has promoted Susan Thoemmes, a director of technology and operations, to senior vice president from vice president in the People Services Division. She started her career in Bank of Hawaii’s Information Technology & Security Division, served as a systems programmer and progressed into a systems consulting role. In 2013 Thoemmes was promoted to vice president and was transferred to the People Services Division one year later.
First Hawaiian Bank has announced the following promotions:
>> Tafiti Uso is the bank’s new vice president and team leader for Private Wealth Management. He has more than 10 years of investment experience and is a Certified Financial Planner. Uso started at First Hawaiian Bank in 2007 as a customer service representative, then served as a wealth associate for BancWest Investment Services as well as an investment officer and wealth adviser within the Private Wealth Management Division.
>> Oliva R. Wise is a new vice president and information management officer for the Retail Planning Department. She has 30 years’ experience in the banking industry. Wise joined First Hawaiian Bank in 1997 and served as a financial analyst and internal reporting supervisor for the Controller’s Division, then transferred to the bank’s Retail Planning Department.
