Girl, 13, escapes abduction attempt in Manoa
Honolulu police are investigating an attempted kidnapping case involving a 13-year-old girl in Manoa.
Police said an unknown adult male suspect grabbed the victim from behind while the girl was running in the area of the 3100 block of Manoa Road at about 4:50 p.m. Monday.
The girl managed to break free and ran from the perpetrator. Police said the suspect fled the scene.
There are no arrests at this time. The case has been passed to the Major Crimes Detail.
Manoa Elementary School’s principal sent letters home Tuesday with students to their parents and guardians regarding the incident since it happened on Manoa Road fronting its campus.
The letter urged parents and guardians to speak to their children regarding measures to stay safe about “stranger danger.”

The measures include not to talk to or take anything from strangers. Use the buddy system and avoid walking anywhere alone and do whatever it takes to stop the stranger if he/she grabs you and yell for help. Always report suspicious activity and be alert of your surroundings.
