The Thirty Meter Telescope will do the following:
>> Help diversify Hawaii’s economy beyond tourism and the military into the clean, high-tech sector.
>> Provide $1 million per year for educational scholarships and internships for young Hawaiian students. It has already brought more than $5 million for those purposes, before construction has even begun.
>> Provide 300 good-paying union construction jobs for Hawaii locals for 10 years.
>> Provide 140 long-term, high-tech jobs for operations and maintenance.
>> Have no impact on the environment or cultural sites.
>> Expand our understanding of the amazing universe we all live in.
>> Continue Hawaii’s tradition of world-class learning, research, astronomy and science.
Build the TMT.
