Earl T. Kim, a former superintendent of schools in Stamford, Conn., will become the new head of school at Le Jardin Academy in Kailua starting Thursday.
It is a homecoming for the Hawaii-born educator, who grew up in Kaneohe and headed Kamehameha Schools’ Kapalama campus from 2012 to 2016. He will replace D.J. Condon, who served for four years at Le Jardin.
“I am honored and humbled to be serving Hawaii’s children and am looking forward to working with the staff, families and friends of Le Jardin Academy to further our role as a leader in international education in the Asia-Pacific region,” Kim said in a statement.
While in Connecticut, Kim oversaw 16,000 students in prekindergarten through 12th grade. He resigned from that post in April after nearly three years on the job.
Le Jardin Academy has 800 students in preschool through 12th grade and is an International Baccalaureate World School.
Kim graduated from ‘Iolani School and earned a master’s in public affairs from Princeton University and a bachelor’s in history from Cornell University. He is the eighth head of school at Le Jardin since its founding in 1961.
