U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has made her presidential campaign pro-peace. Nonetheless, she has just declared war — not against Russia or any state power, but against Google.
Gabbard is suing for $50 million because the tech giant suspended her campaign advertising account for six hours June 27-28, triggered by unusual activity. Maybe it was donations from the throngs reportedly Googling her? Unclear.
In any case, the internet seems to be the battlefield for political warfare now.
Tourism industry helps the homeless
In an promising effort to chip away at a highly visible problem, nonprofits and tourism are teaming up. For example, in a partnership with Hawaii Tourism Authority and the Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Association, the Hawai‘i Health & Harm Reduction Center recently raised more than $90,000 on its own to qualify for slightly more than $90,100 in state funds. The center plans to use the money to work in tandem with law enforcement officials and others find housing and social service help for homeless people who otherwise face arrest or citations.
