While the vast majority of Hawaii residents, including Native Hawaiians, are in favor of the Thirty Meter Telescope, a small but very vocal group who oppose it have grabbed all the headlines.
Their opposition has been the lead story in your paper for the last few days, which I believe is irresponsible journalism. What should have been the lead story — President Donald Trump’s outrageous racist comments and behavior at a rally in Greenville, N.C. — was buried on Page A5.
Your coverage of the TMT opposition distorts the popular sentiment for this noble project. Please exercise reasonable judgment in your placement and word length of stories.
