Kudos to Gov. David Ige for his emergency declaration.
Blocking access roads and highways on Oahu is not peaceful, nor will it stop the project.
I agree past management was poor, but none of us, especially Native Hawaiians, of which my children are blood descendants, would be here if the Hawaiians hadn’t had an intimate relationship with the stars.
I challenge the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, the kupuna and others to pray on this thought:
Mauna Kea offers herself to us, through her incredible height, above the clouds, uniquely positioned and isolated, far from light and air pollution, to use — respectfully, yes — but to use to discover more about the world God created.
Bless this project, do not curse it. Work together instead.
The spirit of Mauna Kea is watching.
