I am assuming those complaining about the pedestrian laws are not drivers. As a pedestrian I got hit while crossing by a car turning right on red.
A letter last year said that when the countdown orange hand flashes, it’s the driver’s time to turn. Those who cross during those times are similar to cars running red lights or zooming through the yellow.
Many pedestrians don’t look before they cross, take their sweet time, are distracted by cellphone use, music or conversations, cut out of the crosswalk and disobey the “Don’t Walk” signal. It’s time for pedestrians to take responsibility. After all, the car never gets hurt.
