Check out a livestock display with pigs, sheep and goats. Go on pony rides. Milk a life-sized cow replica — that moos, too. These are just a few of the family-friendly activities at the 57th annual Hawaii State Farm Fair, Saturday and Sunday at Kualoa Ranch.
The event, presented by the Hawaii Farm Bureau, promotes awareness of Hawaii’s agricultural and ranching industries, said the bureau’s executive director Brian Miyamoto.
“One big attraction for families with small children is the Keiki Farm Hands activity tent,” Miyamoto said.
At the tent, keiki can learn how food grows on the farm and how it gets to market, visit a chick incubator to see eggs hatch and “drive” a mini-tractor. The fair includes a plant sale, fun contests, educational exhibits, entertainment, inflatable bouncers and keiki rides.
“Also, Kualoa Ranch is a working ranch and is a beautiful venue with the Koolaus as the back drop for a fair that will have tons of fun things to see and do,” Miyamoto added. “It’s a great way for families to enjoy the outdoors together and get out of the city into the country.”
