With its addition of the Aloha Stadium account, IMG College LLC has secured a major portion of local sports advertising sales.
The Winston-Salem, N. C.-based company landed a five-year deal to sell advertising for the facility, the Aloha Stadium Authority announced at its monthly meeting. The contract begins Monday and runs through June 30, 2024, with options to renew up to three times in two-year increments.
In 2017 IMG was awarded a 10-year multimedia rights contract by the University of Hawaii athletic department.
Previously UH had handled the accounts in-house.
Aloha Stadium officials said they expect their agreement with IMG to be worth upwards of $500,000 a year. “With our new (partner), it is the authority’s expectation that IMG will continue to raise the bar, foster new and creative ideas while continuing to support and value our existing advertising sponsors,” officials said.
Outfront Media Sports, formerly known as CBS Collegiate Sports Properties, had held the stadium rights for the past 10 years. It also bid on the UH contract.
Stadium manager Scott Chan said the facility expects to realize approximately $450,000 from the final year of its deal with Outfront when the books close on the current fiscal year Sunday.
Under its contract, Outfront pays the stadium 40% of its advertising take. The IMG deal is for 45%, Chan said.
IMG, a division of IMG Global, says it holds exclusive rights to nearly 90 universities and conferences in 51 of the top 56 Nielsen TV markets.
UH has been permitted to sell and retain revenue from rail-side and on-the-field advertising at its game at Aloha Stadium.
