Waialae-Kahala Neighborhood Board Chairman Richard Turbin and the board should look at the cliffs of Diamond Head from the ocean, like the surfers do (“Clift-lift rift,” Star-Advertiser, June 23). Squatters are digging into the hillsides, creating large encampments and landslides of trash and junk. Public spaces are being occupied full-time in every nook and cranny. I breathe through my mouth on my way to the beach.
What happened to the Diamond Head “special district and special protections”? Wealthy landowners squabbling over each other’s estates only draws attention away from the urgency of the situation at Diamond Head.
