Celebrate and support young surfers, or groms, at the T&C Surf Grom Contest — Saturday and Sunday at Kuhio Beach in Waikiki — an event showcasing keiki ages 3 to 12 competing in shortboard, longboard and bodyboard divisions.
“Our contest is special because it’s just for the fun of it,” said event director Lani Isherwood. “It’s a weekend of surfing, where kids can compete without the pressure of a rated surf contest.”
While contest entry is now closed, the public is still welcome to watch the family-friendly event and cheer on the keiki competitors from the beach.
“You never know, you may be watching one of Hawaii’s future surfing legends, like Carissa Moore or Ezekiel Lau, who both competed in the T&C Surf Grom Contest when they were young,” Isherwood said.
