Start the coming summer season off on a cool, sweet note with all-you-can-eat ice cream and a cappella entertainment at Sundaes on Sunday, an old-fashioned ice cream social happening Sunday at McCoy Pavilion. The annual event is a benefit for the Sounds of Aloha Chorus, the Aloha Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
“The Sounds of Aloha has always prided itself in providing family-friendly entertainment events,” said Mark Conching, Sounds of Aloha Chorus director. “We’ve always felt that music can be something that brings people together, and combined with ice cream, what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon?”
The day includes ice cream from Dave’s Ice Cream, a variety of tasty toppings and entertainment by the chorus and its quartets. Sounds of Aloha Chorus performs barbershop standards, Broadway and jazz numbers, patriotic songs, and more.
Sundaes on Sunday serves two main purposes, Conching said.
“It’s a way the Sounds of Aloha connects to our patrons and the general public in a really fun event (and) it helps preserve an all-American, family-friendly social event,” he said.
