Appointments for June bulky item collections begin today
Got bulky items to throw away?
An appointment is now required if you live in metro Honolulu, which stretches from Foster Village to Hawaii Kai and includes Waikiki, due to the city’s pilot bulky item collection service program.
Online appointments for bulky item pickups, which begin June 3, are available, starting today.
“The current regular monthly collection for Honolulu areas will be suspended once the bulky item collection pilot begins on June 3rd,” said the city’s Department Environmental Services in its May 2019 edition of WasteLine.
The pilot program continues through January 2020, and may be extended.
Single-family homes can schedule their bulky item appointments individually, while multi-unit residential buildings must coordinate the pickups with their property managers or associations of apartment owners. Single-family homes can schedule up to five bulky items per appointment, while multi-unit residential buildings can schedule up to 20 bulky items per appointment.

Only one appointment per address can be made per month. Appointments can be made up to three months in advance. Items placed at the curb outside of collection appointment dates, however, may result in civil fines.
