If the last time your family visited the Honolulu Zoo was when your children were wee ones, consider a new zoo adventure and go on a Twilight Tour, held Friday and Saturday evenings. The zoo will also debut its Summer Sunday Twilight Tours, which will run June through July.
“A Twilight Tour enables families to see the zoo in a wholly new light,” said Marlee Breese, executive director of the Honolulu Zoo Society. “It is a fun and educational family experience.”
Many animals are most active during dawn and dusk when it’s cooler, which is great for the tour guests as well, Breese said. Educators will teach guests about the animals’ biology, behavior and more.
“We carefully select our guides for their presentation skills and knowledge of biology, and then have a rigorous training program so that they give our guests a wonderful experience,” Breese said.
Breese noted families should keep in mind tours last about two hours and involve a fair amount of walking, which may make it difficult for very small children.
