Let’s review this past legislative session: No increase in the minimum wage. No solution to the water lease mess that has been brewing for years. No action to improve the public’s understanding of police misconduct. No action to address Employees’ Retirement System (ERS) underfunding. Underfunding of Department of Education maintenance needs. This list could go on and on.
Our legislators should be embarrassed. Instead they are going to receive pay raises they don’t deserve. Shame on them.
Here’s a solution: Eliminate either the House or the Senate to reduce expenses and long-term ERS obligations while making it easier for citizens to hold the remaining lawmakers accountable.
