Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve was closed to the public today because of a problem with the sewage pump for its restrooms.

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve was closed to the public Monday because of a problem with the sewage pump for its restrooms.

“All areas of the nature preserve are closed as a result, including the beach, upper viewing area, parking lots and education center,” the city announced in a news release shortly after 11 a.m.

It is not clear when the popular park will reopen since workers are assessing the problem and will need to make repairs. Hanauma Bay normally is closed on Tuesdays.
