Hawaii County firefighters shuttle in water to fight Volcano blaze
Hawaii County firefighters had to shuttle in water to battle a two-story structure fire in Volcano late Wednesday night.
Neither the human occupants nor their pets were injured when the fire to the 1,200-foot structure on Lanihuli Road was reported at 11:24 p.m.
The first firefighters arrived at 11:35 p.m. to find the structure fully engulfed in flames and a portion of the building collapsed, according to fire officials. A vehicle also was on fire.
Damage was reported at $180,000.
Fire officials said the nearest fire hydrants were “miles away.”
So water tankers from the central and Pahoa fire stations shuttled water to the site
