That will draw a fine of $130, if the governor signs House Bill 1383. But it doesn’t go on a criminal record, and that now can be expunged for previous arrests — another part of the legislation.

Sine die means ‘without day,’ or pau
With the end of the 2019 Legislature in sight, the House on Tuesday initiated final votes on surviving bills. More than 3,000 were introduced in January; about 200 bills will likely make the final cut before sine die, which is slated for Thursday. Measures addressing concerns ranging from clean-energy policies to homelessness and affordable housing are expected to be sent to Gov. David Ige for approval or veto.
